Virus Alert on System Clock Infection

By pcULTRAcare
pcultracare.com

Lately we have been cleaning a Spyware infection that inserts Virus Alert! Message on windows system clock, as well as some of the following; changes product key in windows registry, disables Firefox, disables Windows Updates, disables regedit and task manager, and take C drive off drive list.

Most often virus will change time to 24hr format and add "Virus Alert!" to time, for example "14:03: Virus Alert!".  This is one of the easiest ways to identify this particular PC infection.

Virus Alert Infection

Your Windows Automatic Updates may no longer work due to the infection changing your Product ID.  This will also cause the WGA (Windows Genuine Advantage) notification to alert you about possible counterfeit software.

The start menu may also be modified to not show programs list or the "Run" shortcut.  The background may also be changed and the abililty to change background image may be disabled as well.

The infection has been reported as a Zlob-Media Codec infection, which is usually installed when a modified/fake video is played and it asks to install a needed coded to play.  At this point the user is asked do download and install the infection (codec).

We have been very successful in removing this infection thru our $59 Online Virus Removal Service.
